15 minute steak

This super-quick, super-good steak sauce made my red meat preggo cravings a reality. I may try it as a marinade next time.

Ingredients:
  • 1 lbs tri-tip steak
  • 2 tbs Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbs balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbs fresh chopped basil
  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 1/2 tbs garlic salt

Directions:
  • Bring meat to room temperature
  • Heat the broiler (I used a low setting)
  • Sprinkle one side of the tri-tip with garlic salt
  • broil tri-tip for about 5 minutes per side until desired doneness
  • Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients in large bowl
  • As soon as steak is finished, drop the steak into the sauce and coat both sides. I left the steak to soak up the juices for nearly ten minutes with alumunium foil pressed down to the bottom of the bowl to keep the steak warm. Be sure to cook your steak slightly less than you want, as the ten minutes will allow the steak to cook a bit more.
Note: I also added asparagus (with olive oil, salt and pepper) and a heirloom tomato to the last five minutes of the broil for a nice meal.
